Full Board: Deadline for nomination submission is April 18, 2008
Time Commitment
The Full Board meets every other month at different locations throughout the Valley hosted by board members through their place of business and typically lasts for no longer than two hours. The purpose of these meetings is to take action based on recommendations from the Executive Committee, Youth Council and/or any of the three Ad hoc Task Forces: Advocacy, System Effectiveness, Business Services (regional between Maricopa County and Phoenix)
All meetings are subject to the Conflict of Interest and Arizona Open Meeting Laws.
The minimum number of volunteer hours is estimated to be between 12-24 hours annually depending on your level of participation. Term length is two years with the option for renewal and appointments are based on recommendations by the Full Board to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

If you are interested or know a colleague who may be interested, we are currently in the midst of our annual recruitment. We are looking for private sector business representation from the following areas:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Hi-Tech
- Automotive
- Construction
We are also in search of labor union representation in accordance with WIA and community and faith-based organizations representing individuals with disabilities and veterans.

Selection Process
Once your nomination has been received, it will be forwarded to the Executive Committee for consideration. They meet on a monthly basis. Committee members will review the nominations and recommend those individuals who best suit the needs of the board through industry representation, active community involvement, vested interest in workforce and economic development and a demonstrated level of commitment. You must be at a policy and/or decision-making level to be considered.
The Full Board will convene in April of which the Executive Committee will present their recommendations. The Full Board will then determine who they will recommend to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors for appointment to a two-year term with an effective start date of July 1, 2008.
You will receive notification following the Executive Committee and Full Board, if applicable, with an anticipated date of appointment. Your presence is not required in order to be appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
Youth
Council: Deadline for submission is March 13, 2008
The Youth Council meets monthly and the Ad hoc Task Forces are scheduled to convene on an as-needed basis determined by the initiatives the board chooses to pursue.
The Youth Council is actively recruiting for those employers who offer intern- and externships to youth between the ages of 16-21 years. The Council provides oversight to youth service providers contracted through Maricopa County on behalf of the Workforce Development Division. The Council is comprised of Full Board and non-Full Board members.
We are currently looking for the following:
- Parents or guardians of youth eligible to receive WIA services
- Law enforcement from both the East and West Valley
